“Never stop learning!”
You probably heard or read about this quote a million times, and you know what? It is true!
One of the best things about life is that we never have to stop learning. There are always new skills to learn and techniques for us to adopt. For us to live life to the fullest, we must continually look for ways to improve. There are many resources you can use to learn from: a book, a course, a training process, e-learning, etc.
But in my opinion the biggest resource you have at your work place, is a co-worker.
Yes, exactly! Choose a co-worker you identify with, and exchange your skills. By doing this you are pushing each other up to the top and develop new techniques that will for sure help both of your careers.
The best example I can bring to the table are for sure my last 2 years at Unipro & Consulting GmbH, and most specifically, what I learned from Fernando Viscuna. He showed up as a total unknown Sales Assistant and developed fast into one of the most successful and talented Sales Managers the company has.
The best skill I learned from him? For sure the fact that he actually really cares about the Customer. Treating them with sincerity and truly understanding their needs is the art of building a long lasting business relationship. I have seen him staying long nights in the office until he literally “got the s**t done!”
Another skill I assimilated from him is the way he treats the coworkers. Fernando treats them with respect and he never loses his calmness. Even in the highest stress situations, he never (really never) showed any lack of composure, focusing more on getting the job done and fixing the problem.
So the morale of the story is: Want to keep learning? Look to your co-workers for inspiration!
